Hilcona investing 2.3 million Swiss francs in solar power

Schaan - Hilcona will be installing photovoltaic modules in the company’s existing buildings in Schaan over the coming weeks. These will also be located in the roof spaces soon to be created as part of the plant development project. The Liechtenstein-based food producer is investing a sum of 2.3 million Swiss francs to achieve this.

The Hilcona Group is investing 2.3 million Swiss francs in the expansion of renewable energy sources. At the company’s location in Schaan, photovoltaic (PV) modules are to be installed on the roofs of existing buildings that comply with technical requirements, according to a press release.

In addition, the development of the plant will create new roof spaces, where PV modules are also to be installed, for which the approval process is underway. Moreover, “extensive” green roofs are to be created for the new buildings, with an emphasis on native plants in this context.

The new PV systems are designed to generate around 1,770 megawatt hours of self-sufficient power per year, which equates to the average annual energy consumption of 708 households. The installed capacity will amount to 1,403 kilowatts peak. As Hilcona highlights, the remaining power requirement is also to be covered by low-emissions sources of energy. ce/mm
