Bern - The Portuguese Embassy and AICEP Portugal are launching Portugal Business News in partnership with the news agency Café Europe. The newsletter is intended to increase the visibility of Portugal as well as its innovative companies and research institutions.

On April 25, 2024, Portugal celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, which signified the country’s transition to democracy. To mark the occasion, the Portuguese Embassy in Switzerland and AICEP, the official trade and investment promotion agency of Portugal, launched Portugal Business News in partnership with Café Europe, a news agency based in Winterthur.

Portugal Business News offers a range of articles covering innovative Portuguese companies such as the software specialists CEiiA, Critical Software und Quidgest, in addition to research institutes including i3S in Porto. The newsletter also includes articles about the activities of Swiss companies in Portugal, with Axpo, Nestlé and Zühlke all showcased in the first edition.

Today, Portugal boasts an abundance of talent and innovation. The country offers strong growth opportunities in the green economy, advanced digitalization of public administration and low risks for investors, as Ambassador Júlio Vilela explains in the introduction to the first edition of Portugal Business News. He points to the competitive labor costs and tax incentives in the areas of research and development, in addition to high standards of education and high level of proficiency in English among the working population. “Keep track of our business footprint by following our news”, as Ambassador Vilela writes.

The articles included in Portugal Business News are produced by Café Europe and published on its own news platform economico.pro, among others. Together with the association swiss export, Café Europe also operates swisstrade.com, which is the first English-language news platform covering Swiss foreign trade.
