Swiss introduces a third Airbus A350-900 to its fleet
Kloten - Swiss International Airlines has taken delivery of its third Airbus A350. The aircraft named “Zug” will operate services from Zurich to Shanghai and Johannesburg from October. Swiss plans to add a total of 10 Airbus A350s to its fleet by 2030.
(CONNECT) Swiss International Airlines (Swiss), based in Kloten in the canton of Zurich, has welcomes a third Airbus A350-900. The new A350, named “Zug”, will be deployed from October on routes between Zurich and Shanghai, and between Zurich and Johannesburg. According to a statement, the aircraft is the third of 10 Airbus A350-900s that Swiss plans to add to its fleet by 2030.
Like the first two A350s, the latest Airbus is equipped with the new SWISS Senses cabin, offering guests in all four travel classes – First, Business, Premium Economy, and Economy – greater comfort and a modern, more efficient fleet. “With our third A350, we are taking another visible step forward in the modernization of our long-haul fleet,” Oliver Buchhofer, Chief Operating Officer of SWISS, is quoted as saying. “I am particularly pleased that this will enable more and more of our guests to experience our new SWISS Senses product.”
At the same time as introducing the new Airbus A350, Swiss is gradually modernizing its existing A330 fleet. The first Airbus A330-300 is currently being fitted with the SWISS Senses cabin in Hong Kong. The airline plans to equip its entire A330 fleet with the new cabin by mid-2028. ce/nta
