United Airlines Ventures invests in Assaia
Kloten/Chicago - United Airlines Ventures from Chicago is supporting Assaia, based in Kloten in the Swiss canton of Zurich. The startup’s new StandManager software uses artificial intelligence and computer vision to optimize aircraft allocation at airports.
(CONNECT) Assaia International AG has received an investment from United Airlines Ventures. According to a statement, the venture capital firm of the Chicago-based airline is providing an undisclosed amount to support the further development of StandManager. Assaia’s new product uses proprietary artificial intelligence and computer vision to optimize apron and gate management at airports.
StandManager is part of Assaia’s ResourceManager platform. It helps operators plan parking positions and gates by consolidating operational information, regulations, and changing real-time conditions within a unified decision-making environment. The technology, developed by the company founded in 2018 as a spin-off from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, is already in use at several major international hubs, including New York JFK, London Heathrow, Dubai International, and Toronto Pearson. It helps these airports reduce delays, improve on-time performance, and optimize gate utilization.
CEO Christiaan Hen describes the investment from United Airlines Ventures as “a strong signal of confidence in our approach. We are building StandManager to serve complex airline and airport environments across the industry, and support from an investor with deep aviation experience helps us accelerate that work for the broader market.”
As recently as in December 2025, Assaia raised 26.6 million US dollars in an oversubscribed Series B funding round led by the European investment firm Armira Growth. Existing investors also participated. ce/mm
