UNITAR and IBU join forces for sustainability training
Geneva/Toronto - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the International Business University (IBU) from Toronto have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Together, they intend to offer training courses on sustainability to develop responsible leaders.
(CONNECT) The Geneva-based UNITAR and the IBU, which is headquartered in Toronto in the Canadian province of Ontario, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the aim of integrating the sustainability training courses run by UNITAR in the IBU’s programs. According to a statement, the strategic partnership will offer joint training, workshops and conferences covering topics such as green finance, sustainability and economic development. The aim is to develop socially conscious, globally competent leaders in addition to bridging the digital divide, particularly in underserved communities.
The partnership, which seeks to promote sustainable economic prosperity across various regions through the use of technology and innovation, is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those with a focus on promoting quality education, decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation and infrastructure, as well as reducing inequalities.
The UNITAR training courses are being integrated in the Centre for Sustainable Business of the IBU. Applied projects and the annual sustainability conference will also take place there. The center will be responsible for coordinating curriculum integration, faculty engagement and industry collaborations. In this way, the aim is to ensure that students are able to apply the UN SDGs to real-world challenges. ce/nta
