Nüssli takes on construction for Formula 1 in Madrid
Hüttwilen/Madrid - The temporary constructions specialist Nüssli has taken on a large contract for Formula 1. Nüssli will build temporary spectator stands, hospitality building, and pedestrian bridges at the new Madring for the Grand Prix in Madrid, Spain, from September 11 to 13, 2026.
(CONNECT) Nüssli, which is based in Hüttwilen in the Swiss canton of Thurgau, has received a large contract for Formula 1. According to a statement, the company will construct spectator stands, a hospitality area, and several pedestrian bridges at the Madring circuit in Madrid’s IFEMA trade fair center.
Nüssli will create spectator stands along the racetrack with 92,000 seats in the categories of gold, silver, silver plus and bronze for the race weekend spanning September 11 to 13, September 2026. This includes accessible areas for people with disabilities along with their companions. Behind curves 2 and 3, a 12-meter-high hospitality building will rise up with sky boxes and two catering modules. The sky boxes with an area of 25 square meters will open up onto their own terraces, where the guests can watch the race. A total of 13 pedestrian bridges will enable spectators to cross the racetrack, even during the race. They traverse the broad racetrack at a span of 30 meters. The bridges are equipped with cladding, lighting, safety nets, and elevators. They are also designed as LED screens.
Lluis Herrero, Managing Director at Nüssli Iberia, commented in the statement: “Madrid welcomes Formula 1 back after more than four decades, and we are proud to build a part of that comeback. Bringing spectators close to the action, safely and on time, is exactly what we do best.” ce/ww
