Dormakaba acquires Airsphere
Rümlang/Seefeld - Dormakaba has completed a takeover of the German software firm Airsphere, which serves to expand its portfolio in the airport sector. With this more comprehensive offering, the company’s aim is to enhance the efficiency of global passenger processes, logistics and security at airports and airlines.
(CONNECT) Dormakaba has announced the acquisition of the software development firm Airsphere GmbH, which is headquartered in Seefeld on the outskirts of Munich. The transaction, which was closed on May 18, 2026, allows dormakaba, a global access solutions technology specialist headquartered in Rümlang in the Swiss canton of Zurich, to expand its portfolio in the airport sector with the addition of established software solutions for the automation of passenger processes, airport logistics and critical infrastructure security, as detailed in a statement.
The broader product portfolio will enable the company to achieve global market growth in the airport sector. “Our goal is to further improve passenger processes at airports and airlines through increased efficiency”, comments Till Reuter, CEO of dormakaba.
Airsphere is a specialist in the field of passenger management systems. More than 250 airports around the world use the software solutions developed by Airsphere to automate passenger processes. The eGate software has been deployed at more than 8,000 eGates, while in excess of one billion passengers are processed at arrivals and departures on the basis of Airsphere technology each year, as dormakaba writes in the statement.
Dormakaba offers solutions for doors, including locks, door fittings, door automation, access control systems and mechanical locking systems, which, according to the company, are sold in 130 countries around the world. The company expects the acquisition to be accretive in relation to earnings per share immediately, although no financial details pertaining to the transaction have been publicly disclosed. ce/heg
