Holcim expands in Colombia

Zug/Monterrey - Holcim is acquiring the building materials and solutions business in Colombia from the Mexican company Cemex. The takeover will expand the construction materials group's operational presence in the country by adding more than 20 production sites.

(CONNECTHolcim is acquiring Cemex's building materials and solutions operations in Colombia, which is expected to generate net sales of around 360 million US dollars in 2026, according to a statement. The transaction value of 485 million US dollars is forecast to increase earnings per share (EPS) in the first year and return on invested capital (ROIC) in the third year. The acquisition is in line with Holcim's strategy of financial discipline and growth-focused capital allocation.

With this transaction, Holcim is expanding its operational presence in Colombia by more than 20 production sites. These include the Caracolito cement plant, Santa Rosa grinding station, as well as over 20 plants for ready-mix concrete, aggregates, mortar, and admixtures. The new locations reportedly complement Holcim's existing activities in the country, which include a cement plant in Nobsa, eight ready-mix concrete plants, one admixtures plant, an aggregate plant, and more than 150 Disensa retail stores.

“This acquisition will strengthen Holcim's presence in Colombia and accelerate growth in the attractive region of Latin America in line with our NextGen Growth 2030 strategy,” Holcim CEO Miljan Gutovic is quoted as saying. “Expanding our footprint in the country, these assets complement our existing portfolio.”
