Textile companies work together on sustainable goals
Basel/Zurich - Representatives of the textile companies that have committed to the goals and roadmap laid out by the Sustainable Textiles Switzerland 2030 program have come together for an exchange. The results of their annual progress and impact assessment will be presented in the fall.
(CONNECT) Sustainable companies in the textile and clothing industry are working together to promote the joint Sustainable Textiles Switzerland 2030 initiative. They recently came together in Zurich for their annual exchange to share experiences. The aim was to clarify how much progress they have made with their measures so far, as well as to inspire each other, according to a statement.
This multi-stakeholder program for transforming the industry in the direction of greater sustainability has the mission to make a significant contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the Swiss textile and clothing sector along the entire value chain. It includes ambitious final and interim targets on climate, working conditions, the circular economy, and transparency, as well as a concrete roadmap for the period up to 2030. Supporters include the sponsor associations Swiss Fair Trade, amfori and Swiss Textiles.
According to the statement, the industry players committed to this program used workshops to discuss specific issues for each target area, and developed solutions. Findings from a number of joint initiatives were also presented, including Fabric Loop, Circular Workwear from Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, reflect your style, and the projects United for Fair Wages and United for a Social Circular Economy, which are supported by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs.
An annual survey is used to measure the status of the program’s efforts. The aggregated results of this year’s annual progress and impact measurement will be presented in the fall. “This,” writes the announcement, “will be another important step in seeing how far the stakeholders have come together and where they still need to step up their efforts to achieve the goals of STS 2030.” ce/mm
