Habidom’s crayons are making school routes safer
Aveleda/Milvignes - Habidom has developed traffic barriers for the areas around schools. The pole cones designed to look like a crayon separate the pavement from the road. The Portuguese manufacturer’s product is already in use in various countries across Europe, and now also in Switzerland.
(CONNECT) Habidom aims to make the walk to school safer. Founded in 2001 and based in Aveleda in northern Portugal, the manufacturer of road signs and barriers has now also launched a special product for school routes on the market.
Like traditional pole cones, Habidom’s product separates the road from the pavement, but because they look like crayons a playful link to school is established. In this way, they aim to draw the attention of motorists to how any children might be behaving near the road.
The pillars are made of flexible material that reduces the risk of injury to children in the event of an accident. In addition to Portugal, Habidom’s roadside crayon pole cones are already being used in Ireland, Belgium, Croatia and Austria.
According to a statement from the company, Milvignes is the first municipality in Switzerland to install the crayons on its school routes, including near schools in Auvernier and Colombier and at the railway station. ce/ug
