Schindellegi/Bioggio/Taipei - The logistics group Kühne+Nagel and the technology supplier Acer Europe have extended their agreement focused on the reduction of greenhouse gases in maritime transport. With the use of biofuels, the partners have already saved 475 tons of CO2 over the past three years.
(CONNECT) The logistics group Kühne+Nagel, which is headquartered in Schindellegi in the canton of Schwyz, Switzerland, has extended its agreement aimed at decarbonizing maritime transport with Acer Europe, part of the Taiwanese firm Acer. As detailed in a press release, this partnership has already achieved notable success in the form of CO2 savings amounting to 475 tons over the past three years.
This is the result of the consistent use of biofuels. Moreover, Kühne+Nagel supports Acer’s efforts with certified book-and-claim solutions in maritime logistics and detailed emissions protocols. By 2030, Acer is aiming to cut emissions by 35 percent compared with the levels recorded in 2020.
“We are proud to work with Kühne+Nagel, a reliable and trustworthy partner, in our goal to reduce carbon emissions from our logistics operations”, as Riccardo Bernasconi, Supply Chain Director at Acer EMEA based in Bioggio in the Swiss canton of Ticino, comments in the press release. “A few years ago, we started several joint carbon-reduction initiatives, and the results are improving year over year”, he adds.
Ave Crotti, Sustainability Manager Italy and Iberia at Kühne+Nagel, believes that Acer “looks far ahead” with a focus on “shared responsibility” when it comes to the company’s approach to sustainability initiatives. “We are proud to contribute to their efforts and are looking forward to introducing new carbon-reducing initiatives this year focused on distribution processes”, Crotti explains further. ce/ww
