Switzerland and UAE work to strengthen economic relations

Bern/Abu Dhabi - Representatives of Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have held their sixth financial dialogue in Abu Dhabi. The two delegations discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in the financial and economic sector.

Switzerland’s State Secretary Daniela Stoffel met with the UAE's Finance Minister Mohamed Hadi Al Hussaini as part of the sixth financial dialogue with the country. The meeting took place in Abu Dhabi on 1 October, according to the State Secretariat for International Finance (SIF) in a LinkedIn post. Among the attendees were Arthur Mattli, Ambassador of Switzerland to the UAE, and Roman Studer, CEO of the Swiss Bankers Association, as well as several high-ranking representatives from the UAE.

According to the SIF, the two delegations discussed economic developments, international taxation, regulatory policy developments, and financial market access and cooperation. "The dialogue has been highly successful, fostering greater cooperation and building stronger ties between financial institutions in both countries,” Stoffel is quoted as saying in a statement from the UAE’s official news agency WAM. “We look forward to continuing this collaboration to support growth opportunities within the financial sector."

Al Hussaini emphasised the shared goal to foster financial sustainability and innovation, according to the statement. He said the financial dialogue provided a valuable platform to strengthen cooperation in this area. ce/ssp
