Clariant catalyst selected for use in major project in China
Muttenz - An EnviCat Green catalyst developed by Clariant has been selected for use in a major project for the production of green ammonia in China. The catalyst removes traces of impurity from oxygen during the production process.
Clariant will supply a catalyst from its EnviCat Green series for a major environmentally friendly ammonia project in China. According to a press release issued by the sustainable specialty chemicals company from Muttenz in the canton of Basel-Landschaft, Switzerland, the deoxygenation catalyst will be used to remove traces of oxygen from the green hydrogen produced in the plant before being converted into green ammonia. The press release explains that green ammonia looks set to play a vital role in the global energy transition, offering a range of applications in the areas of transport, energy and hydrogen supply.
As decarbonization efforts gain momentum around the world, demand for emissions-reducing technologies has picked up across all sectors, the press release explains further. Clariant’s series of high-performance EnviCat Green catalysts makes a vital contribution by reducing the level of impurities, which in turn enables the production of high-purity hydrogen. This is essential for the next generation of energy.
“The success of a global transition toward sustainable energy relies greatly on the collaboration of leading industry specialists. With our extensive experience in hydrogen purification technologies, and our innovative EnviCat Green series, we are proud to contribute to this project and others that support net-zero solutions like green ammonia”, comments Xaver Karsunke, Vice President of Clariant Specialty Catalysts, in the press release. ce/gba
