Cologne/Ruggell - Cologne-based transport and logistics company Emons has acquired Medeg Logistics AG, located in Liechtenstein. Medeg transferred the majority shareholding to Emons with retroactive effect from January 1, 2024. Previous owner Gabriele Degenhart will continue as Managing Director.

International company Emons Spedition GmbH & Co. KG, which is based in Cologne, is to expand into Liechtenstein. Ruggell-based Medeg Logistics AG transferred the majority shareholding to Emons with retroactive effect from January 1, 2024. Gabriele Degenhart, the previous owner of Medeg, will stay on as Managing Director of the Ruggell site, according to a press release. The acquisition gives Emons access to Liechtenstein and Eastern Switzerland.

Medeg AG employs 20 members of staff in the areas of land, air and sea freight. It has a logistics area of 7,600 square meters and its own fleet. Family-owned company Emons already has three sites in Switzerland: Füllinsdorf in the canton of Basel-Landschaft, St. Margrethen in the canton of St.Gallen, and Thayngen in the canton of Schaffhausen.

“Ruggell – in the north of Liechtenstein – ideally complements Emons’s three sites in Switzerland,” says Ralf Wieland, CEO of Emons. He adds that high quality standards make the corporate philosophies a perfect fit, and that the acquisition aligns with Emons’s strategy to further expand its international network.

“By joining the Emons network and its product portfolio, we are opening up new opportunities and securing the future of our company,” says Gabriele Degenhart. ce/js
