Flux Mobility builds new electric motor with Traktionssysteme Austria
Winterthur/Wiener Neudorf - Flux Mobility from Switzerland and Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) have together developed a new electric motor for commercial vehicles. The high-performance motor can significantly decrease commercial vehicles’ carbon balance.
Flux Mobility has developed a new powerful electric motor in collaboration with Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA). According to a press release from Flux Mobility, a manufacturer of electric-drive commercial vehicles based in Winterthur in the Swiss canton of Zurich, it was able to benefit from the extensive experience in rail vehicle construction held by the company based in Wiener Neudorf, Austria, when constructing the motor. TSA’s permanent magnet electric motor was designed so that it could be used for the drive systems of light commercial vehicles as well. According to a press release, TSA’s TMPW 25A-26-8 electric motor ensures highly efficient vehicle operation with minimal performance loss at 95-percent efficiency. The motor boasts a peak torque of 1,200 nanometers and peak power of 220 kilowatts. According to information provided by the company, in this way an electric vehicle can save seven times as much CO2 as a diesel vehicle with the same power.
Marius Kohnle, Head of the ROAD Division at TSA, commented in the press release: “We have developed a completely innovative motor concept for the electrification of lightweight commercial vehicles for Flux Mobility. Another new element is that the inverter is now part of the distribution package. This means that TSA now has a complete LD powertrain product to offer. This drive solution provides a real alternative to existing systems and delivers a better service. The great success of this project is largely attributable to the excellent teamwork and close cooperation with Flux Mobility.” ce/ww
